Behind The Scenes Of Designing A Week In A Tuscan Village

Most travel offers are shown to you when they’re finished.

Polished photos. Final itinerary. Price, dates, done.

But that’s not how a truly different kind of trip gets made.

Right now, I’m in the messy, beautiful middle of designing a week in a small Tuscan village for June 19–26, 2027. Eight guests, one village, slow days.

Here’s what that actually looks like behind the scenes.

It’s not just picking dates and a pretty place

When I say “live in a Tuscan village for a week,” I don’t mean “find a cute Airbnb and call it a retreat.”

I’m constantly asking myself:

“How can this feel like a real life for a week, not just a trip?”

That question is shaping everything.

I’m looking at village apartments instead of hotels, so you wake up on a quiet street, not in a lobby.

I’m mapping out days with breathing room, so there’s always space to wander or rest.

I’m talking with local friends about simple experiences that don’t feel staged – things like:

  • cooking with someone in their own kitchen

  • walking the paths they actually walk

  • showing up where the village naturally gathers

A lot of what I’m doing is actually removing things

It’s easy to cram a week in Italy full of “wow.”

What’s harder (and more honest) is to take things away.

I’m intentionally removing:

  • rushing from place to place

  • the feeling that you have to “make the most of it” by doing everything

  • constant movement, constant stimulation, constant decision‑making

I want you to come home from this week feeling grounded and nourished, not like you need a recovery week.

Listening to what people really need.

I’m also listening closely to the words people are already using when they talk to me about Italy.

They say things like:

“I just want to be in one place.”

“I’m tired of planning every detail myself.”

“I want to connect with locals, but I don’t know how.”

“I need to feel my shoulders drop.”

Those phrases are guiding my decisions more than any “ideal itinerary” template.

When I design this week, I picture someone who is:

  • carrying a lot for other people

  • a little worn out by their own life

  • ready to be held and gently guided for once, instead of running the show

What will the week actually feel like?

Some parts are still in motion, but the feeling is clear:

  • You unpack once, in a small village in Tuscany.

  • You wake up to church bells and soft light, not an alarm.

  • You walk the same cobblestone street to coffee each morning and start to recognize faces.

  • Most days, there’s one main shared experience – a vineyard, a lunch, a nearby town, a simple workshop.

  • There’s always space in the day for rest, wandering, or doing nothing.

  • Evenings are for long dinners, good wine, and real conversation.

You’re not performing your holiday for social media. You’re living a simple, beautiful week.

Why I’m sharing this now...

I’m writing about this before everything is final (I'm in the very beginning stages of this authentic week) because I want the people who eventually come to feel part of the creation, not just the end product.

If you’ve ever come back from a trip feeling more exhausted than when you left, you’re exactly who I’m thinking of as I build this.

And if some part of you is craving:

  • one place instead of five

  • depth instead of speed

  • a week where your nervous system can finally exhale

…then I want you to know this is being made with you in mind.

A quiet way to keep this door open...

If this idea of a week in a Tuscan village in June 2027 keeps tugging at you, your next step isn’t to book anything.

It’s just to raise your hand quietly and say:

“Yes, I want to keep this as a real possibility for myself.”

I’ve created a small interest list for the June 19–26, 2027 week.

If you add your name, you’ll be the first to:

  • see the full details and pricing when they’re ready

  • get early access to book

  • have the best chance at one of the eight spots

You can join the interest list here: [link to June 2027 interest page]

No commitment.

Just a way to stay close to the process as this week in the village comes to life, and to see if it still feels right to future‑you when the time comes.

Maybe, two summers from now, you’ll be the one walking that little street to your morning coffee… very glad you said yes to this version of a trip.

Want to start living this now?

If you don’t want to wait until 2027 to feel this kind of pace, I’ve created a digital guide you can use to plan your own version of a slow village week:

Slow Week in Tuscany

A 7‑day village‑based itinerary & planning guide

Inside, you’ll get:

  • a complete 7‑day, one‑base itinerary in Tuscany

  • a simple daily rhythm: slow mornings, one main thing, unhurried evenings

  • “go slower” options for every day, so you can adapt to your energy

  • guidance on choosing your base, food & wine, transport, and packing

You can use it as a plug‑and‑play plan or as a flexible framework to adapt to your own dates and village.

If your nervous system is voting for “one base, slower days,” you can get the guide here.
